Wendy, a nurse of renown
A tennis star, comic and clown
Is retiring at last
But don't be downcast
She's a wonder who won't be kept down

Her energy, vigour and verve
Was what gave her strength then to serve
The dear NHS
Which she leaves in the mess
In retirement she's lots in reserve

Her tennis she'll play in great style
Her strokes they are quite versatile
She's a a lobber and dropper
A slicer and chopper
And her humour is quite juvenile

Happy birthday my favourite nurse
Though sometimes you have made me curse
You have kept my heart going
Not speeding or slowing
And I thank you with this little verse
