Mike's Birthday 2016

A gentleman I know called Mike
Loves to play tennis and hike
He's tall and he's thin
With a whiskerey grin
He's a fellow you can't help but like

Not a Single Vegetable

Turning two is just the age when kids become more stable

It doesn't mean they'll deign to eat a single vegetable.

Hide them in a sausage - nah. That will not enable you

To secretly pop into his mouth a single vegetable

Tell him tales of sickly boys in some fantastic fable

Sick because they did not eat a single vegetable

Slip a pea in pasta shells - that is if you're able

He'll spit it out. You can't disguise a single vegetable

Do not allow the child to move.  Keep him at the table

Thirty minutes later not a single vegetable

'No pudding,' you cry in despair. Your mind's become unstable

He smiles.  He knows that he'll not touch a single vegetable

'No more Peppa Pig,' you say. You'll unplug the cable

Broccoli untouched. No, not a single vegetable

Will pass his lips. You tried your best. You did all you could do

Let's leave it.  It's his birthday and the boy has just turned two
