Lockdown

Things to do when in the house
You kids just need some fun
When the virus threatens
And you're feeling quite undone
Sliding down the hallway
In your daddy's worn out socks
Laying traps for bare feet
With sharp edged Lego blocks
Bouncing down the stairs
Upon your bottom that's quite good
Making up a pantomime
Bags I be Robin Hood
Baking in the kitchen
You get flour in your hair
The bag of raisins splits and now
They're every bloomin' where
Playing hunt the thimble
But use mummy's phone instead
Why not trampolining
On your parent's king sized bed?
Squeezing through the banisters
Until you get quite stuck
Dad says he'll chop your ears off
Oh that's really rotten luck
Thank goodness that some soap and butter
Help to save the day
But later you get stuck again
Going the other way
Hide and seek is lots of fun
Who couldn't want for more?
'til in the wardrobe
All of mummy's clothes are on the floor
The rail has snapped and Daddy now
Is bound to blow a fuse
You offer to repair it
Here's some tape that you can use
Gymnastics in the lounge is great
You spin upon the sofa
You crawl beneath the cushions
Like a large, demented gopher
The newspapers make brilliant weapons
Great for dueling knights
Until that moment comes
When you have broken both the lights
Glass is in the carpet
There are glass shards in your hair
Removed by Mum with tweezers
Oh she has to take great care
Then off you go to rummage
In the cupboards for some string
There's half the contents on the floor

Before you find the thing
The ball of string is perfect

For the plan you have in store

As you decide to build

A clever trap upon the floor

A cardboard box, a heavy stick

The trap's for Tom the cat

The string is tied securely
Place some bait upon the mat
A little bit of ham is put
Beneath the box of doom
The cat unwary saunters in
And looks about the room
He smells the meat and ambles up
To where the trap is set
You're hidden by the armchair
You are nervous and you sweat
She starts to munch upon the ham
You yank the string unseen
The heavy stick flies through the air
To smash the TV screen
More glass, more shouts, more craziness
'Twas  just a bit of fun
You're sent to bed - no supper
Oh - and this is just day one
