Remember?

We were sitting 'round the table.  The four of us looked blank.

I'd eaten wine soaked mussels and Carol had lamb shank.

The meal had been delicious and the service quite sublime.

Discussing films and politics because we had the time.

There's nothing like good company but we were finding hard

Remembering the guy who in that film knocked out the guard.

The one who jumped the counter and protected the cashier.

We all had been to see the movie earlier that year

Then Tony recollected that he'd once been in 'The Bill.'

Ev thought his father was a famous doctor from Brazil

And Carol thought she'd seen him in a recent West End play.

Then I chipped in and commented I thought he'd had his day.

Steve believed he'd read somewhere the fellow had expired.

Mag said that he once was 'fit' but now looked old and tired.

We mused and pondered, hummed and hawed but there came no relief.

Refused to use our mobile phones which added to our grief.

After much debating and by vague association

One of us recalled his name to end the conversation.

In celebration of success we drank some more champagne

Then realised between us we had only got one brain.

The cells are slowly petrifying.  Synapses are slow.

Between us we can work things out if we give it a go.

Six old brains to work it out.  To clear up our confusion.

It will happen to us all my friends.  Be under no illusion.
