Waste Not (Waist not! )
We’ll start off with some pâté
It needs now to be eaten
Some rounds of toast to spread it on
This red wine can’t be beaten
These scrumptious anchovy delights
Are wrapped in homemade pastry
Here’s some other nibbles
That we all find rather tasty
Now we’ll finish off the turkey
It’s really done us proud
It’s five days old but it’s been chilled
I think that that’s allowed
Ham and eggs to eat as well
There’s pigs in blankets too
Some stuffing balls to round it off
We’ll strip the wishbone too
Food should not be thrown away
To clear the plate’s essential
Just move the belt hole one more notch
To give us more potential
Another piece of Christmas cake?
Well, just a weeny slice
A mince pie? They’re delicious.
Mmmm. They really are quite nice.
How about some stollen?
The marzipan’s sublime
Well, not to have a tiny slice
Would really be a crime.
These Danish pastries taste so good
To say no would be boorish
And After Eights are truly great
So tasty and so moreish
A little taste of Christmas pud
It might be slightly filling
We’ll have a wedge with custard too
And hope we find the shilling
We really have indulged ourselves
The chocolates and the sweeties
But carry on like this we'll all
